Ebates

Ebates is back at it again! They are doing another double cash back (for select stores) on Monday, December 15!!!

One offer I took advantage of during the last double cash back was at Magazines.com. I really enjoy AllYou so it was a great time to subscribe to the All You magazine since the double cash back should be 48% (that's what it was during the last double cash back promo). So, it's essentially half price with the rebate!

And, don't forget that Ebates is offering a $10 Sign Up Bonus!

CVS Saturday

OK by now I should have learned to go on the day the sale starts, but I drove my sister's car on Thursday to run errands and did not have my coupons so I didn't go until Saturday. I didn't do as well as I would have liked, but earned enough ECB's to cover the cost of 4 more boxes of icicle lights.

Here's what I got:
Huggies $14.99 (2 ECB's)
Energizer Batteries $22.00 (10 ECB's)
Gatorade $4.50 (6 ECB's) I'll explain why in a moment...
Advil $6.49 (2 ECB's)
Colgate $2.49 (2.50 ECB's)
total: 50.47
Coupons used: 4.00 off the batteries, 3.00 off the diapers, 2.00 off the Adviland 2.00 off the toothpaste. total spent was 24.88 ECB's earned was 22.50. It didn't sound right in the store, but I had issues with getting my EBC's so I didn't look at the receipt until we got home....She never rang up my diapers!! I feel so guilty! They were right there on the counter too! I will say something when I am in this week and pay for them then.
I got extra ECB's because my card # wouldn't come up with my phone # so she had to manually do them whcih printed out 2.00 for each gatorade. I turned those ECB's right around on 4 strings of icicle lights for the house.

Who me?

Those who know me best know I don't care for Jewel at all, but boy was this sale too much to pass up! It is only good thru tomorrow so you better hurry! I spent 34.56 today and walked out with 96.00 worth of food. Here's how I did it:

First you have to spend 30.00 on certain items to get 15.00 back in bonus cash. I goofed this up slightly but here is what I got: 6 cans progresso soup, 2 big progresso broths, 4 boxes of cereal, 2 jars of ragu sauce, 1 fettucini noodles, 2 betty crocker cookie mixes, 2 betty crocker potatoes and 2 knorr sides. This came to 34.00 then I had 10.40 in coupons for a payment of 25.34 with tax and I got 15.00 in coupon cash.
For my second transaction I got 2 bakers chocolates, 1 fajita tortillas, 2 whole fryer chickens, and 2 eye of round steak for a total of 28.36 less the 15.00 and less 4.61 for the free steak for a payment of 8.65. I am pleased as punch! So pleased that I am going back tonight and doing it again for more.

Tonight I am only spending 24.00, based on my math and coupons and should come home with another 75.00 in food.

I didn't do as well as some of the other ladies online, but to have only spent 34.56 and to have all of this is truly a blessing to my budget. If you want to check out more, go here and a BIG thank you to Meredes.....I had no clue this was going on because I did not purchase a Sunday paper this week.

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

Look at what $24.00 bought today~

I went to CVS toget the deal on toothpaste (Crest 3.49 and get 3.49 in ECB's) but of course they were out so I went to my plan B. Here's the breakdown:
4 12 packs of Diet Coke 12.00 (3 ECB's)
8 packs of IceBreaker Gum 8.00 (5 ECB's)
4 Hershey Milk chocolate 2.00
Total 23.00
Coupons: .50 off Hershey, 4 off the Gum, 2.00 ECB's and 7.53 in gift cards
Total 8.92!! Plus 8.00 in ECB's

Next transaction:
2 packs of Pampers 20.00 (5 ECB's)
2 Oral B toothbrushes 5.50
2 CVS Vitamins 4.99 (1 was free)
Total 30.49
Coupons: 1.50 x 2 papmers, 5.00 off 25.00, 8 ECB's and 2.75 off toothbrush
Total 13.80 Plus 5.00 ECB's

Total saved today was $41.20!! I am very pleased it all worked out. I will be checking another CVS for the toothpaste though-I need it for my Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.

Here are some things to do this weekend!

Every year I feel like I shelled out the dough for costumes for 1 day of fun.....well Emme dresses up in hers all year, but anyway here are a few ways to take out your trick or treaters this weekend!!

On Saturday from 2-4 p.m. Border’s will hold a Halloween Spooktacular. Dress up in costumes for their costume contest, listen to stories or play games. Thanks, Centsible Mommy!

On Saturday & Sunday, All You will host an annual Yes, You Can! event. Stop by a participating Walmart between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day for free samples, as well as tips and ideas from All You Yes, You Can! advisors.

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

Yummy!!!

Check out here for a free sample of 8 Haydee Chocolate Truffles.....Haydee Chocolatier represents an idea: An idea that gourmet chocolate shouldn't cost gourmet prices. An idea that quality is not just an ideal, it's a standard. The philosophy that every single truffle that rolls off of our line and into your hands should be excellent. The notion that natural products are worth the hassle.

Meal Planning

As promised, here is how I am feeding my family dinner this week for under 50.00!
Saturday - ate at mom's
Sunday - BBQ chicken, salad, and rice
Monday - Hamburgers and Fries
Tuesday - Pork chops, pasta alfredo, applesauce and green beans
Wednesday - Enchilada Casserole with beans
Thursday - smoked sausage, perogies and baked apples
Friday - chicken pot pie

all of the items for these meals were on sale (hamburger $1.29/lb, chicken $.99/lb, pork chops $1.99/lb and smoked sausage 2.79 each), plus we went apple picking so Emme and I made applesauce, baked apples, and apple cobbler. I also cooked meals for another family this week and they too were under $50.00 and are eating totally different meals. It can be done-just plan and look at the meats on sale. I also bought 7 bags of cereal for 1.00 a bag and used 5 .50 off coupons. The cereal will hopefully last 2 weeks....so that is a real savings for me. Hey there!

I decided to lay low this week and do not even plan on going to CVS or Walgreens. We have oodles of stuff here to eat, wash, shave and diaper with. Kmart was a huge success for me. I filled my bin with all kinds of stuff like shampoo, deoderant, shaving cream, detergent, and various other things. All I am going shopping for is meat, fresh fruit and veggies, and the never ending boxes of cereal. If there is a Buterra near you, there is a great deal on chicken breast starting Thursday. They are only $1.49/lb and they are the biggest ones I have seen! I bought these last time they were on sale and we ate the last of them tonight. Malt-o-meal cereal is also on sale for $1.00 a bag....click on the coupon box on the left for a coupon off of that too! Otherwise, I plan on playing with the kids and cleaning my house. I'll post some freebies for you tomorrow - we have been receiving a lot of them in the last 2 weeks and certainly makes getting the mail more fun! The Oil of Olay hand creme is awesome and I love the Neutrogena face wash. So until tomorrow!

As seen on Ellen

I saw this Dr. on Ellen this week and thought a lot about what I eat after watching him. Are you tired all the time? Do you crave sugar? chocolate? junk food? I do and after baby number 4 my muffin top is NOT going away. Plus I wouldn't use opium and most of the food I eat has the same consquences on my body. I am going to check this book out and encourage all of you to do the same. You can check out the reviews and such on Amazon - see the box at left for getting to Amazon. Just type Neal Barnard in the search box for books....

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com Review
Why is it so hard to resist the temptation of chocolate? Because chocolate triggers the release of natural opiates in the brain. It's a drug "strong enough to keep us coming back for more," according to nutritional researcher Neal Barnard, M.D., president and founder of the Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine. Cheese also releases mild opiates during digestion--no wonder we crave it. In Breaking the Food Seduction, Barnard helps you understand and overcome your food cravings. He explains which foods "hook" us the most and why, and what to do to break free when you want to decrease the calories and fat that accompany these seductive foods. Cheese, for example, is about 70 percent saturated fat and has more cholesterol, ounce for ounce, than a steak.

Barnard offers seven steps to breaking your food cravings, devoting a chapter to each one, with anecdotes and plenty of clear, sound, practical tips. Then he presents guidelines for healthy eating using "the New Four Food Groups"--vegetables, fruits, legumes, and whole grains--with a three-week menu plan and 113 healthful, vegan recipes. Highly recommended for people who want to understand their food cravings and finally get rid of them.

Money making month.

So the end of September is here and I wanted to share a few ways I made some extra $$ this month. First I did a few rebates from Walgreens. I earned $15.39 in rebates this month and all 3 things I earned rebates on I also used coupons and sale prices to purchase them for nearly nothing (under $5.00!). So I earned $10.00 for shopping at Walgreens this month. I also received a $20.00 rebate from Miller beer (or hubby did anyway:) and I got my $10.00 from Kelloggs too. I also sold 3 books on Amazon that were just sitting around here anyway. That earned me $12.60. So for just paying a little more attention to rebates and selling some items I don't need, I earned about $57.00. That's almost 1/2 a tank of gas!! haha

Oh and I almost forgot-I used ebates twice this month and earned 8.00 on items we would have just bought online anyway. If you are interested in earning money thru ebates, click here And I did tons of paid emails and surveys-so those added up too.

I guess I am just earning money differently and little bits all add up. Stay tuned for more ways to save and in the end earn!

CVS today

Well I escaped the house with no kids - not even the baby! I made the most of my short time....I bought 2 cover girl lipsticks, 3 cans of pringles, claritan, a slip and slide and 2 Colgate toothpastes all for only 10.17 Plus I transferred hubby's prescription and got a 25.00 gift card.

Here's the breakdown:
2 cover girl lipsticks, 9.99 each
3 cans of pringles .88 each
claritan 8.99
a slip and slide 2.99 on clearance orginally 19.99!!
2 Colgate toothpastes 2.99 each

Total before sales and coupons 53.16
Cover girl is B1G1 free and I had a coupon for B1G1 from this Sundays paper so both were free, .30 of the Pringles, 3.00 off the claritan, and 1.00 +.75 off the toothpastes.
Used 5.00 ECB's and spent 10.16 plus I have 5 more ECB's to use later the month.

So far my Summer spending is 92.10 and my savings are 165.10! I am still in shock at how easy these savings have been to attain, and the surplus we have here is so handy. I have in the container now 8 bottles of shampoo, 3 tubes of toothpaste, gobs of razors and shaving cream, 3 deoderants, and various other things I can't remember. All of us love having the container here and not running to the store when we are out of a personal product. The kids like picking out their stuff from it too! Even hubby likes is liking it! Have a good week!

Shopping this week

I did great this week since the kids were in school!! I went to Walgreens on Tuesday and bought a bunch'o'stuff on sale. I spent 29.00 and had savings on 29.00 so I guess if I hadn't worked the sale, I would have spent 54!! I was also able to go to Jewel on Wednesday with just the baby and stocked up on ground beef $1.49/lb with 20.00 purchase and the beef counted toward the purchase! So I bought 9lbs....and I also got more yogos which came with a 1.00 q off of juicyjuice-the baby's new addiction. I am not sure I am pleased with the sugar content so I am keeping him to one per day. I also got some cheese bricks on clearance, pringles on clearance, and Emme's favorite cheetos on clearance. All in all I spent 34.00 and saved 17.00 with specials and q's. :)

On Friday I went to Aldi and stocked up. I haven't spent more than a few dollars here and there since July 5th. I spent 158.00 and feel like I walked out with one of everything in the store. I did not buy any meat other than brats and italian sausage. I did get lots of things for lunch, sides for dinners, and canned goods galore! The only bummer was I had to carry it all in myself since the kids were at school.....it may be the only time I miss them since they usually carry everything in while I put it all away.

I will be going to CVS next week since my ECB's will expire on the 5th. I can't wait for the ad to see what I can get for close to free since I am also going to get the 25.00 gift card by transferring a prescription there. Well enjoy the holiday weekend!

Subj: Be my bra (not a joke)

From a nurse:
I'll never forget the look in my patients' eyes when I had to tell them they had to go home with the drains, new exercises and no breast. I remember begging the Doctors to keep these women in the hospital longer, only to hear that they would, but their hands were tied by the insurance companies. So there I sat with my patients, giving them the instructions they needed to take care of themselves, knowing full well they didn't grasp half of what I was saying, because the glazed, hopeless, frightened look spoke louder than the quiet 'Thank You' they muttered. A mastectomy is when a woman's breast is removed in order to remove cancerous breast cells/tissue. If you know anyone who has had a Mastectomy, you may know that there is a lot of discomfort and pain afterwards. Insurance companies are trying to make mastectomies an outpatient procedure. Let's give women the chance to recover properly in the hospital for 2 days after surgery. It takes 2 seconds to do this and is very important. Please take the time and do it! Please send this link to everyone in your address book so they can come and sign. If there was ever a time when our voices and choices should be heard, this is one of those times.

If you're interested in this issue, I think you will take the 30 seconds to vote on this issue and send it on to others you know who will do the same. There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It's about eliminating the 'drive-through' Mastectomy where women are forced to go home just a few hours after surgery, against the wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached.

Lifetime Television has put this bill on their Web page with a petition drive to show support. Last year over half the House signed on. PLEASE!! Sign the petition by clicking on the web site below. You need not give more than your name, state, and zip code.
w.lifetimetv.com/breastcancer/petition/signpetition.php> )
This takes about 2 seconds.

PLEASE let all your friends and family know about this, and on behalf of all women, THANKS

CVS'ing today

So for the first time in forever we were ready to go to church early! So of course I said - let's run to CVS and then get some donuts before church. Off we went. Here is the transaction I did today:
3 Lorel shampoo's 3/10
2 shick razors 7.99 each
1 Fruitrese Mouse 4.29
1 4 dbl roll CVS t.p 3.29
1 Tribune paper 1.99

Total: 43.
used: 3/15 CVS, 5.00 EBC's, 1.00 q for Fruitrese, 1.00 Lorel, 1.00 Lores, 1 free Lorel, 1 Free Razor
Total after q's was 13.07 and I got 5 ECB's The only strange thing I noticed was that for the 2 free items, the cashier took off the before sale price so I got 9.50 for the razor and 5.00 for the shampoo. I do think the t.p was expensive, but I made a error in my last purchase and only bought single ply.....so I had to have some 2 ply around here.

so we saved 30.00 in 20 minutes, got donuts and still made it to church on time.

A little savings here and there

Since my last post, I have picked up a few things with deep discounts. Yesterday was the best score. I went to Jewel and got 6 boxes of cereal for $8.00. Here's how I did it: General Milles select cereal were 5/$10. I had a 1.50 off from Jewel on 3, .55 on Trix, .75 on Coco combos, 1.00 off of Cheerios, and another .50 off any general mills cereal which brought the total down to 5.70. Then I added a Just Bunces which I had a $1.00 off coupon so the box was only $1 on sale after q. So my total with tax was 7.98.......Yay me since we eat cereal like fiends around here. My other big deal at Jewel was Pringles. I hardly ever buy them because one kid can eat the whole can....well they had some on clearance for .69 each. I had 4 .30 off q's so we bought 6 cans of them for 2.94. I couldn't pass it up. I also did another hot dog and bun transaction earlier in the week so for lunch yesterday we had hot dogs and pringles with my super cheap powerade. I felt so good serving them the junk they like but cheaply which I like!

I also went to CVS last week and got razors (I know-more!) and shaving cream, and something else that I can't remeber. I spent 11.00 and got another 5/15 q and 3 ECB's plus a free cotton swab q so not all was wasted. I was planning on taking a week off from CVS, but I have to roll over my ECB's so I am just getting pert shampoo, toothbrushes, and diaper wipes. I am going there tomorrow - by myself!

I'll keep you updated on any other good deals I find!

CVS $49 for $8.98-with a rookie mistake!

So here is my best CVS transaction to date.....I got 3 Revlon shampoos, 3 Revlon conditioners, 2 birthday cards, 2 body washes, 1 face cleanser and 4 trident gum packets. Here is the $$ breakdown:

  • 6 Revlons @ 4.99 each

  • 2 cards @ 2.99 each

  • 2 body washes 2/$5

  • 1 face cleanser 2.99

  • 4 packs of gum 1.49 each

Total before sales: 49.87

Revlon B1G1 -14.97

Trident B1G1 -3.00

Coupons: CVS Coupon -2.00, Revlon B1G1 -14.97, Trident q -3.00, and Card Q -2.99

End total 8.98!!! and I got 3.00 ecb and a $3/15 for next time! So I gues that means I got it for 5.98 if you take off my bucks.

Since I did this all in one transaction, I could only use 1 CVS 2.00 coupon even though I had one for each of the body washes. Next time I'll know better and pay for those in another transaction. That was rookie of me - but I was so excited I could hardly stand it and the cashier was SHOCKED! All in all though I am psyched and thank http://www.moneysavingmom.com/ and http://thecentsiblesawyer.blogspot.com for all the tips. My goal is to pick a deal next week for something other than shampoo, razors or diapers since we have an abundance of those.

Alls good in saving land

Well, since I last posted, I have scored some BIG savings.....I went to Jewel for Diet coke (hubby's main addiction), and low and behold there were the Yo+ yogurts on clearance for 1.64 a four pack so naturally, I bought four 4 packs since I had $1.00 off each pack. That to me was a great deal since we eat yogurt daily. I also went back to Jewel this week and bought 5 boxes of cereal for $10.00 and got a free GALLON milk. I only paid 8.85 because I had more q's. So I had a $28.00 savings on just a 10 minute trip. I am not a big Jewel fan, but will go there for just the deals if it means saving this much. I feel like a saving addict!! I think about what deals I am going to do for the week, and then can't wait for the day that I get to go. Some cashiers have been giving me funny looks because of how planned out my purchases have been - I say stare on!! I'm saving too much to care.

Walgreens today though was a downer because the must have gotten wise to the diaper deal so I walked out with no diapers and no $5.00 catalina coupon. What I did buy was Dixie plates B1G1 and I had .50 cents off of that, and more freakin razors......we can shave here until next July, and a detangler for the girls that I had a q for but sadly wasn't on sale. The total came to $8.85 and that seemed like a lot but you win some-you lose some. I'll post my big win separately from CVS. This one made my day - and the cashier too!!!

doing good so far!

Well, let's see.......since I last posted, I did the hot dog, bun and watermelon deal at Jewel (Albertsons) adding Gatorade at the last minute and spent $6.17 and had savings of $24 something. I also went to Walmart for school supplies, did really well on that and also bought my 2 sure deodorants for the mail in rebate using a coupon each on the deodorants. I also bought Honey nut cheerios and Lucky charms with the q's I had. My total was $34.82 and I had a total of $8.55 in q's. Friday I did the diaper deal again at Walgreens and with my 5.00 rebate back I bought a cute candle that was on clearance for the family room I just painted. Today though was my best at Walgreens yet.....I bought 5 powerades, 2 schick razors, 3 boxes of cereal all for $11.17 and had $23.60 in savings. I used 3 Powerade q's, B1G1 for the razors, and 2 $1.00 off the cereal plus the Powerade q in this weeks flyer, and the 2.00 off from the July savings ad. Not bad for a newbie!!

So for me it is really about changing my thought process since I now have more razors, diapers, and powerades than ever in this house, but I won't need them for quite awhile. Especially since Powerades are treats and we drink mostly water and juice.

I did do the math and added all my receipts and my savings......I was shocked!!! I thought I was pretty frugal but doing these deals has made me see that I can really pinch it if I pay attention to the sales ads, keep my q's organized and go to more than one store. So far since June 25th I have spent $140.00 and saved......drumroll please $104. and some change!! This total does not include the 114.00 I spent at Aldi on July 5th since that was normal grocery shopping for me. I hope to keep adding to my stashes around here so that next week when I go to Aldi and our harvest market I will only spend 50.00 total......that will shock the hubby!! I al;so took 100 from my paycheck and put it in an envelope that I hope will not need to be used until Christmas!

I Blew it!

I saw the little books by the door and used only that coupon thinking it was the same one the pharmacy gave me.....I still did o.k. and will post all I got with $$ later. Lesson to me:re-read the deal before you go to the store. And be sure to go to the pharmacy and get the book this week.

First Thing Monday AM

I am going to Walgreens.....
There is going to be an awesome deal coming up at Walgreens for the week of June 29th that will get you free Walgreens brand diapers. On June 29 the new sales ad will start. Walgreens brand Jumbo packages of diapers (both the white and red packages) will be on sale for $5.99 each. In the July Easysaver booklet there will be a coupon in there for $5 off 2 packages of Walgreens diapers. This coupon will automaticallyadjust itself and give you 2.50 each package you buy. This booklet will be available in stores starting June 27th.You also need to go to the pharmacy and ask for a $50 Walgreens savings booklet. These booklets are free to anyone who asks about the newprescription savings plan. You don't have to buy the savings plan justask about it and get the booklet. Many employees don't know where thebooklets are so insist that someone who does know get one for you. They are a white and red booklet that is folded over 3 times and contains various Walgreens coupons for their store brand items. One of the coupons inside that book is for $2 off one package of Walgreens branddiapers. This coupon automatically scans for $2 off each package you buy. Both of the above coupons are Walgreens store coupons. You can combine them for the same purchase. All you have to do is present them to the cashier and they both scan fine. Also since both are store coupons the cashier will not need them for their drawer like a regular coupon. Shescans them and you can keep them for future purchases. So hang on to them both! Even though they may say limit one they scan and give you the adjusted amount off for each package you buy.During the entire month from June 27th until July 28th Walgreens has another deal where you buy any 3 listed products (this deal is advertised in the Easysaver coupon & rebate booklet) you will get a $5 Register Reward Coupon for anything on your next purchase. WalgreensJumbo diapers are one of the qualifying products. So this is how to maximize the deal and get FREE Diapers! Remember for the week of June 29th!Buy three packages of Walgreens brand Jumbo diapers (white or red package) for $5.99 each on sale. Your total will be $17.97. Give the cashier your Easysaver coupon in the Easysaver booklet for $5 off when you buy two packages. Remember this will give you 2.50 off each package for a total off of $7.50 Your total now will be $10.47. Now give the cashier your $2 coupon that is inside the Pharmacy coupon booklet. This will give you $6 off total. Now your total will be $4.47You need to pay the $4.47. After you pay you will recieve a coupon from the coupon machine next to the register for $5 off your next purchase of almost anything. This makes the diapers FREE in essence. This deal is unlimited! But there are a few tricks to get the mostout of it. Do not buy more than 3 packages in one transaction. If you buy 6 packages you will not recieve two $5 Register coupons. So only buy 3 at a time.Remember to keep your two coupons for each additional purchase you make. The cashiers do not need to keep them since they are store coupons and the register automatically keeps track of how many are used. When you get your $5 Register coupon DO NOT use it to help pay for your second transaction of more diapers. This will void out you getting another $5 coupon. The only way to get a $5 register coupon for each transaction is to pay with cash, debit, credit or giftcard. Just save all your register coupons

Here's the story....

We are a family of six trying to cut back in today's economy down to one income. There's me, hubby, 11 year old daughter, 8 year old son, 7 year old daughter and almost 1 year old baby boy. I bought a freezer for myself for my birthday in February and started to cook ahead, and stock up on sale items. But then summer came and I cut my hours even less so I figured I needed to get right the the heart of the matter-or the stomach as the case may be. I started cutting coupons, really reading the sale ads instead of just depending on Aldi and our local fruit market. It has cut some of the flab from our food budget, but now I really really want to stay home so I have to get it down even less. I started reading websites, ebooks, and anything else I can get my hands on. My first step this weekend was to realistically write out our budget. I found a great worksheet here: http://www.shoppingfortwo.com/Budget/budget-signup.htm That's when I figured out that hubby had better cut back on his spending or everything I do would never work. Then I started doing the CVS shopping deals. I am getting better, and our CVS is not that far, but it is going to take more practice to get where I am walking out with only a few $$ spent. Now last but not least, I did the Dixie paper plate deal at Walgreens on Friday with my $5/20 coupon and actually spent $31.00 (10 on prescription) and had 54.00 woth of stuff. Now I am dedicated to cutting coupons, printing coupons, and searching out the deals. This week is grocery shopping week for me and I intend to make the best of it! My habit is to shop every two weeks and not (and I am serious about it) walk back into a store for another two weeks. I am rethinking this so that I can so one bigger shop one week and one smaller shop the next.....we'll see once I get my ads on Wednesday!

So here we go!

Well, I have thought and thought about this for months now. I finally found the time to do this. I have plenty to say, let's see if I can just get it on the page. For now, looking at all these codes and setting this all up has done me in for the night. I'll fill you all in about me tomorrow!
